FAQs

What if I have been in a car accident?

Most auto injuries can be treated very effectively by a chiropractor. Dr. Miller can determine during your visit if chiropractic is the right treatment for your injuries. You should also know that in Utah auto insurance includes medical coverage that allows you to go to the chiropractor and to get massage therapy.

What is Chiropractic?

People have been calling what we do chiropractic for over 100 years. What we do has been around even longer than that. "Chiro" means hand. Chiropractic is primarily a form of treatment done by hand. Chiropractors give adjustments. Adjustments help reduce pain, restore normal movement, and speed healing.

What is an adjustment?

An adjustment can be done in many ways. Most adjustments are done by hand. Some adjustment can be done with a small instrument or with the help of a chiropractic table. An adjustment consists of a Doctor of Chiropractic moving a bone in a precise and controlled way to promote normal movement and healing. Some adjustments produce a small click or pop.

What is the popping noise?

The popping noise that you hear in an adjustment is actually in the joints that are being adjusted. It is not the bone that is cracking. When a joint is moved in an adjustment many times a space is formed in the joint that is filled with gas. When the gas forms it makes that noise.

Does it hurt?

Most adjustments don't hurt. Some people are more sensitive to them than others. It also depends on if you have an injury. Even when people come in with a lot of pain the adjustment is usually less painful than they think it will be and is well worth the results. In our office Dr. Miller is very good at being gentle and getting the job done.

Once you see a chiropractor do you need to keep going forever?

If you see a chiropractor and get adjustments your body will not require chiropractic care any more in the future than it did before you saw a chiropractor. It is likely however that you will feel so good you will want to do it again.

Do you adjust kids?

Yes. Kids get bumps and bruises all the time. All that activity and trauma will affect kids. Kids don't need adjustments as often as adults. Their little bodies are more flexible and they heal faster. It is not common for a child to complain about neck or back pain. If they do it is a good time to get them in. We work on children of all ages. Even down to newborns. The adjustment is more gentle and done in a slightly different way. Babies often respond if they have colic or if they always turn their head to the same side. Adjustments help the baby turn the head both ways and helps prevent flat spots.

If my injury is in my muscle do I need an adjustment?

All injuries and problems affect the joints, bones and muscles. If you have a problem in one, the others are effected. An adjustment helps bones and joints but it also benefits the muscle by relaxing it, reducing pain, and helping it heal faster.

What technique to you use?

Doctor Miller uses diversified technique most frequently in his office. Diversified technique is a combination of all of the most popular techniques including Gonstead, Thompson, and many others. Dr. Miller also practices drop table and Activator techniques.
